Aldi caps sales of popular rosé magnum amid surge in demand and launches competition for free groceries
Aldi restricts sales of its Le Grand Poulet Rosé Magnum to three bottles per customer as popularity grows, while introducing a competition offering a year of free groceries to one lucky household.
Aldi is putting a three-bottle cap on sales of its Le Grand Poulet Rosé Magnum from Wednesday, as demand for the wine continues to grow. The discounter will cut the 150cl bottle to £9.99 from August 27 until September 2, while stocks last, and says the larger format is equivalent to two standard bottles.
The supermarket describes the rosé as a light, dry wine with citrus and red berry notes, and says its appeal lies in its freshness and character. The standard 75cl Le Petit Poulet Rosé remains on sale at £6.29, offering a smaller alternative for shoppers who do not want the magnum size.
Aldi has also broadened its attention to family customers with the launch of its Superfam Pass competition, which will give one household a year of free groceries. According to the company, the prize amounts to £800 a month, or £9,600 over 12 months, alongside £400 worth of Specialbuys selected for the winning household.
Entries for the Superfam Pass are open until 21 September, with the winner due to be notified by 5 October. Aldi has also published its bank holiday opening hours for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and says the quietest times to shop over the August weekend are likely to be early morning or later in the evening.
